A large number of senior citizens, staying alone face some major problems related to health, safety and security or legal problems. In times of emergency, proper medical attention is not taken in account. Some of the senior citizens are also physically challenged, which prevent them from going somewhere or to look out for help. The organization, Pronam has come up to put an end to these problems and give these old treasures of the city a ‘safe and secure’ living. The 24 hour helpline is basically for people who are above 60 years staying alone and residing within the Jurisdiction of Kolkata Police. With almost 1700 members, Pronam has already walked many steps to define the problems as well as provide remedy to the issues faced by the elderly population of the city.

Kolkata has always been a witness to several compassionate and kindhearted people putting their effort to help others in times of distress and difficulties. In expressing humanity and sympathy, Kolkata is one step ahead. Pronam, set up in empathetic Kolkata, has drawn a lot of senior citizens to look at the bright side of life and take a second chance. One distress call to the organization will give the elderly population of the city a feeling of security and protection. The annual program on Saturday arranged by Pronam will witness the special bonding with the senior citizens.
