INTRODUCTION
The Bengal is an organisation of eminent personalities and thought leaders from various segments of society of West Bengal. It is involved in various social projects and welfare initiatives for gradual social upliftment on one hand and on the other, works for growth, preservation and promotion of our rich art, culture and literature.

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিত্ব এবং বুদ্ধিজীবীদের নিয়ে গঠিত ‘দ্য বেঙ্গল’ শিল্প, সংস্কৃতি এবং সাহিত্যের সংরক্ষণ, প্রচার ও প্রসার এবং বিভিন্ন সমাজ কল্যাণমূলক প্রকল্প গ্রহণ ও তার রূপায়ণের উদ্যোগে সতত নিয়ত থাকার আদর্শের ভিত্তিতে দ্রুত এগিয়ে চলেছে।
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- To renew and strengthen the bonds among all stakeholders, including resident and non-resident citizens of West Bengal,
- To be engaged for overall socio-cultural development of the state,
- The Bengal encourages research and development for accelerated growth of the state.
লক্ষ্য ও উদ্দেশ্য
পশ্চিমবঙ্গের প্রবাসী-অপ্রবাসী বাঙালিদের মধ্যে জনসংযোগ সুদৃঢ় করার মাধ্যমে রাজ্যের সমাজ-সংস্কৃতির সামগ্রিক উন্নয়নই এই সংগঠনের মূল লক্ষ্য। রাজ্যের সার্বিক উন্নয়নকে ত্বরান্বিত করতে ‘দ্য বেঙ্গল’ গবেষণাভিত্তিক বিকাশকে প্রাধান্য দেয়।
Why ‘The Bengal'
While West Bengal has an extremely rich intellectual capital, there was no appropriate and active common platform for its eminent personalities, intellectuals and achievers to come together and work for the betterment of the state. To address this need gap, distinguished professionals from diverse fields of art, culture and literature joined hands together to form The Bengal. Each of these members would input an expert perspective on various aspects of life, society, culture and economy, which could contribute meaningfully to the comprehensive development of the state
This body would also act as a catalyst for the common people and the state, and help Kolkata and rest of West Bengal remain strong, both economically and socially. These ideologies were behind the formation of ‘The Bengal’ and it aims for building a fairer society with the assurance that the people of West Bengal enjoy a better quality of living.
কেন 'দ্য বেঙ্গল'
চিন্তন ও মননশীলতার দিক থেকে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ অত্যন্ত সমৃদ্ধ হওয়া সত্ত্বেও, বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিত্ব ও বুদ্ধিজীবীদের সঙ্ঘবদ্ধ করে রাজ্য তথা দেশের উন্নতির জন্য কাজ করার মতো নির্দিষ্ট কোনও উল্লেখযোগ্য সংগঠন এখানে ছিল না। এই শূন্যস্থান পূরণের লক্ষ্যে, শিক্ষা ও সংস্কৃতির জগতের সঙ্গে যুক্ত বিশিষ্ট বুদ্ধিজীবীদের একাংশ সম্মিলিত হয়ে ‘দ্য বেঙ্গল’ গঠন করেন। জীবন, সমাজ, অর্থনীতি প্রভৃতি বিষয়ে প্রত্যেক সদস্যের অভিনব দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি , গভীর ও সুচিন্তিত মতামত পশ্চিমবঙ্গের সামগ্রিক বিকাশের ক্ষেত্রে অর্থবহ অবদান রাখতে সক্ষম হবে এই ভাবনা নিয়ে পথ চলা শুরু। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের অর্থনৈতিক ও সামাজিক ভিত্তি সুদৃঢ় রাখতে এই সংগঠন অনুঘটক রূপে কাজ করবে এবং সামগ্রিকভাবে উন্নততর সমাজব্যবস্থা ও জীবনশৈলী সুনিশ্চিত করে দেশের অগ্রগতিতে বিশেষ ভূমিকা পালন করবে এই ছিল ‘দ্য বেঙ্গল’ এর প্রধান উদ্দেশ্য ।
